Infertility & IUI

Q: My husband and I  have taken all the tests and have found out that my husband has a low sperm count.   In the months of Oct and Nov.  I was taking chlomid and nothing happened.   We are  now going to try another procedure called IUI.   After reading your article I noticed that there is another procedure, by taking a diabetes medication.  Is this something I should try?   Or do you think we are better off going thru with IUI?

A: IUI is to help a sperm problem.  Clomid is to enhance ovulation.  They are doing separate things although together they can improve your odds.  Metformin would be helpful if you had a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome.  If you were ovulating on Clomid, Metformin would be of no value.
