Hysterectomy

Q: I had a complete hysterectomy 10 months ago. Before that I had not had my period for 6 months. I didn't bleed very much after the operation but now I am spotting (very pink in colour). Could you please tell me if this is normal or should I go and see my family doctor?

A: It should be checked out.  It is seldom serious, often being due to a vaginal infection or some scar tissue in the vagina from the previous surgery.
